High School All-State and two-time All-City and football running back Led Garfield to an undefeated season as a junior Broke league rushing and scoring records as a senior Served school as vice president of student government College Played for the University of Washington Member of the winning 1961 Rose Bowl team Leading rusher on the College All-Star team Professional Played five seasons in the NFL for Denver Broncos and his final year with Buffalo Bills Other President of Seattle Central Community College for 16 years, and later Chancellor for 5 years Co-founder of The Breakfast Group in 1976, to help young African- American males in Seattle Inducted into UW Husky's Hall of Fame in 1992 2006 Recipient of Odegaard Award for outstanding contributions to diversity and educational opportunity at UW
