High School Starting quarterback for Seattle High School (renamed Broadway) Led team to victory over North Division High of Chicago in national championship game Also played baseball (center field) and ran track (hurdles) for the Tigers College Captain and four-year starting quarterback at University of Washington Believed to be the only starting quarterback in college football history to go undefeated for four years Earned eight varsity letters (four in football, three in baseball and one in track and field), more than any other athlete in the school's history Other Awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for "extraordinary heroism" in action during World War I Served as Washington State Lieutenant Governor from 1921-1925 Inducted into UW’s Husky Hall of Fame in 1980, honored in three sports Posthumously inducted into State of Washington Sports Hall of Fame in 2009
